There's a spot Max occasionally kicks at that makes me want to instantly pee my pants.
I hope as I get further into my third trimester that I don't actually pee my pants.
That is all.

Midwife Appointment 5.0
We had our 5th midwife appointment yesterday. I was pretty nervous going into it, because I was being tested for gestational diabetes and to make sure my iron levels were okay. I had to drink my "Glucose Cola", as it was called, an hour before the appointment at home. I chose fruit punch at my last visit, and it wasn't that bad. Sugary. Red. Fruity. Punchy. And flat. It tasted like it used to be carbonated.
The first few minutes of our appointment was in the lab on the doctor's office side (the midwives are down the hall in their own offices). As the nurse stabbed my finger for blood (and I slipped out an "Ow!" like a 5-year-old), another nurse was on the phone with someone. While the nurse collected a little blood sample from my finger, the nurse on the phone said "So, is it coming out of your vagina or your rectum?" R started laughing, which caused my nurse to start laughing. Gotta love that. A couple of minutes later, and the nurse said I was free and clear of gestational diabetes. Hooray!
After that we headed down the hall to see my midwife. I was dreading weighing myself, but I didn't gain the 10lbs I was sure I had gained in the past month, just the normal 4lbs I should have gained. Another victory! I don't know how that happened. I have been eating like a crazy person, but I guess it's good that I've been sticking to the healthy stuff for the most part.
I was given all kinds of information to start preparing for the big day (eek!). My midwife gave me a birth plan to fill out, and I have to make an appointment to go fill out all of my paperwork at the hospital sometime in July/beginning of August. Blech. Paperwork. And to top it all off, the little guy is measuring exactly where he should be for 28 weeks, so we're on track (did you know the uterus measures in cm how many weeks you are. IE: I'm 28 weeks, so my uterus is 28 cm. Fun!). From now on we'll have to go to the midwife every two weeks.
I left the appointment feeling pretty good about everything, so we went to celebrate with lunch and Yogurtini afterwards. Two hours later I crashed, and I crashed hard. I could barely stay away the rest of the day. Thank you, sugar overload.

Welcome to the Third Trimester
I'm officially in my third trimester. Holy. Crap. I suddenly feel like I'm at the top of the first giant hill on a roller coaster, and there's no turning back now.
Can we slow time down a little bit? Please? I was content in the second trimester. I had plenty of time in the second trimester. I haven't even finished reading my pregnancy/birth books yet! There's no time!
Deep breath...I will not have a Jessie Spano moment.
Anyway, here I am, with just a few months to go. We're slowly but surely getting things ready around the house. R emptied out his office, and we are turning it into a nursery. All four walls have been painted, and the stencil has been started. I think the poor guy overworked himself, as he's in bed for the third day in a row sick. Poor guy.
I have midwife appointment today, so let's hope that all goes well. I'm being tested for gestational diabetes, and she's going to check my iron, too. I have a giant bottle of red (fruit punch flavored) sugary stuff to drink within five minutes, that has been hanging out in my fridge for the past month. I hope it's not too gross, and I hope it doesn't turn my teeth red. Maybe I should have gotten a straw...
And on that note, I need to eat breakfast while I wonder if my belly button is going to pop out at some point in the next several weeks.

27 Weeks
Me filling up the kiddie pool in our backyard last weekend because it was HOT! You can't see that I'm laughing at my lab puppy, Annie, spazzing out in the yard. We bought this pool for the pups, but I ended up standing in it for awhile just to cool off. I can't wait to start going to the pool this summer to relieve some back pain! I also can't wait to take the little guy swimming next summer for the first time.
The baby has been kicking a LOT this week, and while it's weird to see my whole belly move when he kicks, it's pretty awesome to watch.

Are You Going to Eat That?
Its happened. I've officially become one of those pregnant women who cannot stop eating, which may explain why my belly has decided to finally pop out out of nowhere. I have made it 6 months eating mostly healthy and normally (with the exception of a few weeks of nausea and only eating comfort food back in January during my 1st trimester), and while I'm still eating healthy, I'm pretty sure I'm eating a lot more than I used to. On my last visit to my midwife my weight jumped up 7lbs. I'm almost scared to see how much it has jumped up this month. I wonder if I'll get a lecture?
I've been craving a TON of fruit, and definitely enjoy a tasty treat from the chocolate or ice cream food group after dinner time...and sometimes before dinner time. I feel like a crazy person. One minute I feel totally content and full, and the next my stomach is growling and if I don't get something to eat quickly, someone is likely to get hurt. Luckily, R still has his sanity. He didn't cave last night when I demanded that we order Chinese food because grilling our chicken grillers from Hy-Vee last night was going to take an hour, and we could get Chinese food in 20 minutes. He risked a pregnancy meltdown with Zuul (my hormonal pregnancy alter ego, as R so lovingly calls it), but was lucky to only have to deal with a few whines and sighs as I cut up an orange to snack on while I waited for dinner.
Hopefully the insane hunger will pass. I'm excited to counter the hunger beast with some swimming. The outdoor pools open this weekend, and I feel like an 8-year-old going to Disneyland I'm so excited. I plan to spend a ridiculous amount of time at the pool this summer.

Baby Skeletor
I never did get around to showing off the sonogram of our little guy. I think this is the only sonogram that we will have, since I'm using a midwife. This was him at 20 weeks, he looks like a little Skeletor. I hear some people usually cry when they see their baby the first time. We laughed at him for looking like a little tiny skeleton face.

26 Weeks and Counting
Omg, I should probably update this thing once in awhile, huh? I always think about things I want to write about, but then decide I'm too tired to do it. Or I forget. Anyway.
R and I have been talking about taking weekly photos of me since, ohh, my second month of pregnancy We've been really slacking in that department, or more truthfully, I haven't had much of a desire to have my photo taken. Today was the day we finally took some photos. R was patient enough to do a mini-shoot with me outside. He took the photos, I edited, and he designed the copy.
I suppose this will be the start of a delayed maternity series.
Ta da!
