R and I had our third midwife appointment this past Wed. It was a big day all around, because it was my mom's birthday, my half birthday (no, I don't really celebrate it, but I'm now halfway to 30), and the day we found out the sex of the baby! Not to mention I'm at the midpoint of my pregnancy, which just blows my mind. Time is going by WAY too fast. I'm starting to feel like Jessie Spano from Saved By the Bell. You know what I'm talking about. "There's never enough TIME!" Ha. That still kills me.
This visit was my first (and possibly only) sonogram, and it was pretty awesome. Not to mention, the technician could have been Mary Stuart Masterson's twin, and she was pretty entertaining. I was worried I wouldn't know what the heck I was looking at, but at this point in the game, it's pretty easy to see a crystal clear picture of a tiny human. It was awesome. We saw the blood flowing and the heart pumping of our skeleton-faced little boy. Yes, skeleton-faced. I called him Skeletor, because that's exactly what he looked like, then the technician jokingly reprimanded us for making fun of our son. I couldn't stop giggling about it. Let's hope he looks a little more...flesh covered when he comes out.
After the sonogram we jaunted down the hall to our midwife's office, and after finding out a smidge of bad news on our last visit, I was a little nervous about this one. However, everything turned out to be great. She said my weight was perfect, the baby was right on target for our due date, and everything/everyone looked healthy. Whew! R and I decided (okay, I decided) that we needed to go celebrate with some frozen yogurt.
And for the record, no, I'm not upset it's a boy. I was going to be excited either way. I just felt like it was going to be a girl (plus the bizarro dreams I was having about it being a girl didn't help), but I'm pretty excited to meet our little guy. Little boys are pretty hilarious, so I'm looking forward to seeing what he's going to be like (especially if he takes after his father).
